WJ III (Reading)
Woodcock Johnson III Diagnostic Reading Battery (WJ III).
Ages: 2 to 80+ years.
Information: The WJ III is an individually administered diagnostic test that assesses reading achievement and important related reading abilities. It is a measure of important dimension of phonological awareness, phonics knowledge, reading achievement, and related oral language abilities.
The key features include a reading aptitude test, reading achievement, phonological awareness and oral comprehension. It also features comprehensive scoring measures that will highlight any discrepancies between reading ability and reading achievement.
It examines the following areas:
- Brief Reading.
- Broad Reading.
- Basic Reading Skills.
- Reading Comprehension.
- Phonics Knowledge.
- Phonemic Awareness.
- Oral Language Comprehension.
- Total Reading
The WJ III takes about an hour to complete and the full test consists of 10 subtests. Some of all of these subtests will be administered, depending on a student’s individual needs. The ten subtests will take about 1 hour to complete. The five reading achievement tests will take about 30 minutes.
