Multiple Intelligences

Multiple Intelligence Checklist

Ages: 8 to 80 years.

Information: You are happiest and most successful when you learn, develop, and work in ways that make best use of your natural intelligences or strengths. The theory of multiple intelligences was developed in 1983 by Dr. Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. Gardner proposed eight different types of intelligences. Thare are:

  • Linguistic intelligence (“word smart”).
  • Logical-mathematical intelligence (“number/reasoning smart”).
  • Spatial intelligence (“picture smart”).
  • Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence (“body smart”).
  • Musical intelligence (“music smart”).
  • Interpersonal intelligence (“people smart”).
  • Intrapersonal intelligence (“self smart”).
  • Naturalist intelligence (“nature smart”)

According to Gardner, your intelligences profile is not fixed, which means that you can develop both your stronger and weaker areas. Knowing your multiple intelligences profile can also help you because you can identify the kinds of learning activities which can help you to learn well.
