The VISA was developed specifically for the Australian context to assist Australians facing career decisions to focus their vocational preferences. It includes a Summary Sheet with the career interest and description, with simply and easy to answer questions that target specific interests. The key content includes:

  • The items of the VISA reflect the occupational descriptions contained in the Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO).
  • Consisting of 64 work descriptions on which candidates rate their preferences, (1 = low interest to 7 = high interest).
  • The scoring may be undertaken within the consultation session with the help of a psychologist.
  • The client can then discuss a wide range of practical suggestions and case studies to assist with career planning.

Self -Directed Search – Revised (Australian Edition)

The self- directed search explores career options by matching interests and abilities to occupations. The key features are:

  • Australian adaptation based on Australian data.
  • Internationally used assessment tool.
  • Based on Holland’s theory of career development. It  yields six scores based on Holland’s theory of careers.
  • Over 1000 Australian occupations listed in the Occupations Finder.
  • It is used extensively to explore career options.
  • The Australian edition has undergone a major revision to incorporate changes that have occurred in the workplace over the last twenty years.
